Jamie Lloyd’s revival of “Sunset Boulevard,” featuring Nicole Scherzinger as Norma Desmond, will hit Broadway this fall following a successful run in London.
The London revival received 11 Olivier Award nominations, with the Broadway production set to begin previews on Sept. 28 and open on Oct. 20 at the St. James Theater.
Based on a 1950 film by Billy Wilder, the musical includes music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton. Lloyd Webber starred in previous Broadway productions, with Glenn Close headlining in 1994 and 2017.
Lloyd’s production of the show in London concluded in January, focusing on the psychological drama rather than elaborate sets.
Set in midcentury Los Angeles, “Sunset Boulevard” follows a former silent film star as she seeks a comeback with the help of a young screenwriter.
Scherzinger, known for her diverse entertainment career, receives critical acclaim for her performance in the show, marking her Broadway debut.
The Hawaiian-born performer expressed excitement for her upcoming role and the opportunity to further explore the character on Broadway.
Scherzinger is committed to a nine-month run on Broadway alongside her Olivier-nominated co-stars.
